The Jazz Cats Recorder Collection is an illustrated collection of 6 easy-medium jazz pieces for beginning and intermediate recorder players. Students learn to perform in various jazz styles. The kit includes reproducible song sheets, coloring pages for each song, and a performance and accompaniment CD.
The styles range from traditional Dixieland to a modern Jazz Samba. The songs may sound very intricate however, only the harmony is complicated. The melodies are limited to no more than four notes. Each song includes a section for improvising using the notes of the melody. Additional note choices are provided for more advanced students. The songs and advanced soloing scales can be applied to all barred Orff instruments.
